Emerging Engineers

Emerging Engineers

Dear Families,

We are very excited to bring your child a wonderful enrichment opportunity! Your student will be engaged in a peer mentor project between a kindergarten and fifth grade class, integrating engineering and literacy. Engineering Fridays builds self-confidence and sparks passion, creativity, curiosity, and imagination for finding answers and solutions! Fifth grade students become role models for kindergarten students. The project builds communication and collaboration skills, as well as develops a common language. Students will be learning from each other, not just teachers. This initiative provides a safe environment for risk taking and builds facilitation and leadership skills of our young students. We look forward to bringing this shared experience to the lives of your child.

Students will be reading a book together and identifying the problems in the story. Then they will think of possible solutions and create their ideas using recyclable materials. In order to bring Engineering Fridays to life we need to collect recyclable materials for students to use to create their solution. We are looking for empty paper towel rolls, empty toilet paper rolls, empty egg cartons, empty tissue boxes, etc. If you send in empty cans please make sure there are no sharp edges. Imagine what your recyclable will be turned into. Please send these materials to school by

Thank you for your support with this project.
